An Urgent Message

#SaveSoundSkool

An urgent message to all our dear friends and supporters:

It is with great sadness that we have to announce SoundSkool will no longer be contracting with the College of North East London and Haringey for the academic year of 2018 – 2019.  Following the merger of CONEL into the Capital City College Group, the wider college has a surplus of 16-18 year olds, meaning they have more than they are currently funded for. Subsequently, the college has made the decision to end the subcontracting of the 16-18 provision group-wide, including their contract with SoundSkool.

What does this mean for SoundSkool students and staff?

In light of this devastating news, the SoundSkool team will be now be working tirelessly to secure the funding, premises and equipment to continue the college to start September 2018 as originally planned.

However, due to the very late notice of this news, we will also be supporting students in securing a back-up/plan B option in the event of us not being able to secure this.  The future of our students is our biggest priority, so we want to ensure that they have a definite placement for September.

We would like to reach out to everyone who has been involved in and supported SoundSkool in the past to ask for your support in spreading this message and raising awareness of our cause. Any and all support is greatly appreciated, whether it’s word of mouth, suggestions for further solutions, or a social media post on Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook or Twitter.

Naturally, this is a devastating blow to the organisation, but we are seeking alternatives, and hoping that we will be able to continue delivering our music industry provision to London’s young people.

How you can help

  • Help to share our #SaveSoundSkool campaign on social media in order to help us secure the funding, premises and equipment for the 2018/19 academic year.
  • Contact any media outlets (particularly youth media)  to help us get coverage.
  • Encourage people with large social followings to share #SaveSoundSkool
  • Help to put us in touch with any organisations that may be able to help us secure a new venue, funding and equipment.

We would like to thank all of our friends and supporters who have been part of the SoundSkool community throughout our journey so far and we want to assure you that we will move heaven and earth to #SaveSoundSkool.

SoundSkool college will be open for email/phone queries regarding this letter on Wednesday 30th and Thursday 31st of June 11am-4pm. Please bear with us during this time, we will respond to all queries as quickly as possible.
