Founded in 2008 by Simon Gordon, with the support of Director Connie Abbe, SoundSkool began as a grassroots community music project working with young people across North and Inner London. What started as a passion for using music to engage, inspire and empower young people has grown into one of London's leading specialist music industry colleges.
For more than 18 years, we've remained true to the values that shaped us from the very beginning. While we've grown, evolved and entered an exciting new chapter in Hackney, our purpose has never changed.
Our Beginning
SoundSkool began as a grassroots community music project, working with young people across North and Inner London and using music to inspire creativity, build confidence and create opportunities.
The College
Building on our community roots, SoundSkool Music Industry College was established to provide specialist, industry-focused music education, preparing students for university, employment and careers in the creative industries.
Our Mission
More than 18 years later, our mission remains the same: Changing Young People's Lives Through Music by creating opportunities, nurturing talent and supporting every student to achieve their full potential.
We believe music has the power to transform lives, build confidence, unlock creativity and create opportunities that shape a young person's future.

We create a supportive, inclusive and inspiring environment where every student is encouraged to discover their potential, develop their talent and believe in what they can achieve.
Alongside industry-focused training in Music Performance & Business and Music Production & Business, we help students develop the professional behaviours, communication skills and self-belief needed to progress to university or higher education, succeed in employment and build successful careers in the creative industries. We want every student to leave SoundSkool not only as a better musician, producer or performer, but as a confident, resilient and well-rounded young adult, ready to embrace the opportunities ahead.
Today, SoundSkool welcomes students from across London into a creative community where collaboration, individuality and ambition are celebrated. Our industry-experienced staff work alongside students in professional studios, helping them develop the knowledge, skills and experience needed to achieve their ambitions and create successful futures.

We offer fully-funded, full-time Level 3 courses in Music Production & Business and Music Performance & Business.
Our Level 3 RSL qualifications are UCAS-accredited and equivalent to three A-levels, with clear progression routes into university, higher education, internships or a career in the music industry.
