This term, SoundSkool launched a brand-new Masterclass Series, bringing some of the UK’s most inspiring music industry professionals directly to our students for exclusive sessions on performance, production, creativity, and career development.
From international producers and performers to award-winning broadcasters, our Masterclasses are designed to give students real insight into the world of professional music – helping our students learn from people who are actively shaping the industry today. Andrea Zara – Broadcaster, DJ & Presenter
We kicked off the series with Andrea Zara, an award-winning broadcaster with over 13 years of experience in national and global radio. Andrea shared her incredible journey from KISS FM and the BBC to hosting on Tomorrowland’s One World Radio – the world’s No.1 festival station. Students were captivated by her stories from interviewing global stars like Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran, and gained valuable advice on confidence, communication, and carving a career in media. 🎧 Parker Ighile – Producer, Songwriter & Recording Artist
We welcomed Parker Ighile, a multi-platinum producer, songwriter, and recording artist who has worked with Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Kanye West, Quincy Jones, and Nicki Minaj, among many others. Parker gave a powerful and authentic talk about creativity, collaboration, and maintaining artistic integrity in the commercial music world. He also did some live production with the class and got everyone involved! Students were inspired by his honesty about the highs and challenges of working at the top level of the global industry.
🎸 Jay Asafo – Bassist & Musical Director
Our November session featured Jay Asafo, a renowned bassist and Musical Director with over a decade of professional experience performing with Ghetts, Little Simz, Stormzy, and Marie Dahlstrom. Jay shared his journey from session musician to MD, offering students practical insight into stagecraft, rehearsal preparation, and musical direction. His advice on professionalism, teamwork, and consistency hit home with our aspiring performers and producers alike. He was performing for us live with stems from his Little Simz collaboration and blew everyone away with his keyboard skills!
