Jimmy Owen is a musician, songwriter and educator whose career has been built on a passion for both artistic excellence and developing the next generation of musicians. As Head of Education & Operations at SoundSkool, he combines extensive industry experience with a deep commitment to creating inspiring, high-quality music education that equips students for successful careers in the creative industries.
Alongside his work in education from Course Leader, Head Of Music and Head Of Department as some of the UK top institutions, Jimmy has enjoyed a diverse performing and recording career, sharing stages and collaborating with internationally respected musicians including Guthrie Govan, Justin Sandercoe, Chris Marsh (Eric Johnson) and sharing stages with The Shires, Ryan Mcgarvey, Marcus Malone and Aynsley Lister to name a few. His performances have taken him to festivals across the world and some of the UK’s most iconic live venues, earning a reputation as a versatile guitarist, songwriter and performer.
Jimmy’s critically acclaimed album, How Do You See Yourself, reached the iTunes Top 10 Singer-Songwriter Albums chart, further establishing him as a respected recording artist. His work has also been recognised through endorsement partnerships with PRS Guitars, Victory Amplification and GHS Strings, reflecting the respect he has earned within the professional music community.
Teaching has been a constant throughout Jimmy’s musical career. Having spent years mentoring aspiring musicians alongside his work as a performer, he understands the challenges of building a sustainable career in an ever changing industry. His philosophy is rooted in developing not only Creativity, technical ability and creative confidence, but also the resilience, professionalism and industry awareness needed to thrive in today’s musical landscape.
