FAQs
Whether you’re applying, exploring your options, or just curious, our FAQs are here to guide you through everything SoundSkool has to offer.
Is SoundSkool a real, accredited college?
Yes. SoundSkool is a regulated post-16 education provider offering nationally recognised qualifications.
Students are enrolled on accredited courses that sit within the UK education framework and, at Level 3, carry UCAS points.
This is not informal training or a private course; it is legitimate further education delivered through a music-focused pathway.
Is the education fully funded?
Yes. SoundSkool courses are fully funded through standard post-16 education funding, in the same way as school sixth forms and colleges.
There are:
- no tuition fees
- no private college charges
All core teaching, facilities, and qualification costs are included.
Any optional costs (such as trips) are communicated clearly in advance.
What ages do you accept?
SoundSkool works with young people aged 16–18.
Students must meet eligibility requirements for post-16 education funding and be suitable for a specialist creative learning environment.
What qualifications will my child achieve?
Students work towards recognised, accredited qualifications appropriate to their level and pathway.
At Level 3, these are RSL (Rock School London) qualifications:
- are nationally recognised
- UCAS points up to 180 over 2 years
- support progression to university, apprenticeships, or employment
Music is the specialism, but academic standards still apply.
Is this just for students who want a music career?
No. While SoundSkool supports students who are serious about music, the skills developed are highly transferable, including:
- communication
- teamwork
- time management
- confidence
- problem-solving
Many students progress into creative industries, but others move on to university or careers outside music using the skills and qualifications gained.
